DANDONG, June 6 -- The relief sculpture in memory of the General Hospital of the Chinese People"s Volunteers (CPV) Army in the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea was unveiled in the former site of the hospital, where now lies the No. 966 Hospital of the Chinese People"s Liberation Army (PLA) Joint Logistic Support Force, in the border city of Dandong in Northeast China"s Liaoning province on June 5.

A total of more than 2.9 million CPV soldiers went to the Democratic People"s Republic of Korea (DPRK) to help in the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea (1950-1953). During two years and nine months of heroic fighting side by side with the DPRK"s people and army, more than 360,000 of CPV soldiers died or got wounded, with more than 710,000 enemies being killed, wounded or captured. At that time, the CPV Army General Hospital was responsible for the medical rescue and transfer tasks, making important contributions to the victory of the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea.

This year marks the 70th anniversary of the victory of the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea. The No. 966 Hospital designed and made this relief sculpture, with a height of 3.76 meters and a width of 3.81 meters, as a commemoration.

With realistic techniques, the relief portrayed the heroic images of the medical personnel providing first-aid on the battlefield, transporting the wounded, performing surgical treatment, etc.
